Felix Fraga Academic

Campus STEM Building

The HCC Felix Fraga STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Building is located on an HCC campus with an existing academic building and a Houston ISD early college high school. It has been sited to reorient the “front door” of the campus toward Navigation Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in the Southeast quadrant of Houston. By constructing this building, HCC is fulfilling its commitment by bringing technology and workforce training to the community. The building contains offices, classrooms, computer labs, an engineering lab, a drafting lab, chemistry and biology labs, and maritime curriculum including forklift and crane simulation classes.

In addition, the highlight of the science and technology curriculum is an astronomy lab including an observatory and telescope that can broadcast views of the sky to other HCC campuses. Finally, the building provides a student center space for students to eat, socialize, and relax. Some of the exterior materials were selected to match materials from the existing building to provide visual continuity for the campus.
